There's no reason to think that the idea of a fourth Stargate series is dead just because it doesn't involve Wright, although the quality of these endeavors – Stargate Origins, anyone? – have left a lot to be desired.
The reality is that despite his decade-long custody of the Stargate universe, it's ultimately MGM's plaything, and they might be looking to follow the lessons of Doctor Who in 2005* and want to put some clear blue wormhole water between a new incarnation of the show and its predecessor.
*This comparison doesn't track perfectly for various reasons, don't shout at me.
